Specialist IAGs (top level)
Specialist Independent Advisory Groups (SIAG) focus on single communities and subjects. IAG members have a safe space to discuss and understand challenging and complex issues with specialist police officers and staff.
Currently there are three Specialist IAGs in the Avon and Somerset area, although there are plans for more.
Whether you have strong connections in the specific community; direct experience in the subject; are affected by the topics, or just interested in being part of the discussion, we would like to hear from you.
These include dedicated groups for:
- Young Persons – from age 14-30, this group gives young people a chance to change the way policing impacts them and their communities.
- Women’s – focusing on community issues that directly impact women and girls, as well as promoting women in policing
- Counter Terrorism – working with Avon and Somerset Police, but also Counter Terrorism Policing South West, this diverse group aims understand and protect communities from the issues and events that can lead to terrorism.
Interested in joining an IAG?
We would like to hear from people from a variety of different backgrounds, who have a desire to improve community relations with the police and work together to improve public confidence, trust and safety in Avon and Somerset.
No previous experience needed, other than an experience of life in whatever shape or form. All IAG members are volunteers.
