Our advisory groups

Avon and Somerset have a range of Independent Advisory Groups, representing a large variety of communities, businesses and cultures. They have one thing in common: wanting to make a positive difference to policing across the region.

  • Strategic IAG

This group works closely with Avon and Somerset’s Senior Police Officers and staff to set the strategy for all of our IAGs and make sure our communities’ voices are heard

  • Geographical IAG

These IAGs address issues, offer insight and share experience to strengthen relationships between neighbourhood police teams and their local communities, businesses and venues

  • Young Person’s IAG

This group is led by young people, giving those ages 12-30 a safe space to discuss concerns and issues with police officers and staff across Avon and Somerset

  • Women’s IAG

Sharing advice and expertise around the policing of crimes and other issues directly affecting women and girls

  • Counter Terrorism IAG (CTIAG)

Forming a link between Counter Terrorism Policing and the region’s communities to understand and prevent the impact of radicalisation and acts of terrorism
