The SIAG is attended quarterly by IAG Chairs and the Police Strategic Lead – a Chief Officer of Assistant Chief Constable rank. The SIAG Chair is elected from the existing local IAG Chairs.
External guests and police specialists are invited to attend SIAG meetings to share information, insight and expertise.
The SIAG’s main job is to ensure all of Avon and Somerset’s IAGs are operating in line with their Terms and Conditions. It also monitors progress and relationships between the IAGs and the relevant police teams.
They will discuss topics including, but not limited to:
- Regional incidents, events or concerns that impact IAG communities
- Data and statistics related to regional police performance
- Training, learning and opportunities to observe the police at work
- Recruitment of police officers and staff
- Sharing knowledge and expertise that can improve policing and build trust
Find out more about the topics discussed by viewing notes from recent SIAG meetings.
Interested in joining an IAG?
We would like to hear from people from a variety of different backgrounds, who have a desire to improve community relations with the police and work together to improve public confidence, trust and safety in Avon and Somerset.
No previous experience needed, other than an experience of life in whatever shape or form. All SIAG members are volunteers.
